Laura's Daughter EP Release Party ...

Last Saturday night I had the honor of attending my friends release party for her EP Laura’s Daughter. Janelle Ja is a rising vocal talent and great friend. I had a wonderful time at her very chic event and mingled with wonderful people.

The Night Outfit was inspired by a small Forever 21 haul that included these delicious Leopard print flats with a fo-strap and gold detail. Since many events require a lot of standing, I opted to wear flats. Anytime I choose flats, I make sure their chic and unique.
OOTN: Black Skirt- DOTS, Jacket- gifted, Leopard flats, necklace - Forever21, Clutch- Bakers

The event space was an amazing 4 story house, designed by Janelle's boyfriend. Her EP release Laura's daughter was on sale along with her concert clips as  ambiance.

Fashion Night Out, "Cupcakes, Curves, and Cleavage" ... Vive La Femme

d

Every September before New York Fashion Week retailers celebrate with events, performances and giveaways during Fashion Night Out. Vive la Femme is a plus size retailer on Chicago's North side in the Bucktown Neighborhood, who hosted Cupcakes, Curves and Cleavage.
The Event offered Tasty mini cupcakes, wine and a warm welcome by owner Stephanie Sack.

OOTN: For the event I wanted to be Chic but Trendy …..I decided on a pair of black knit Jeggings by Ashley Stewart, Print Crop Top by DOTS, Boyfriend Blazer by Torrid, Nude Flats by Urban Outfitters and a Great Statement necklace from JCPennys.

At the event I was fitted for a bra by Isabella Fine Lingerie.

They carry a large selection of Full Figure Bras. I was unable to find the right fit with the sizes at the event but will be stopping by their location to find the Perfect Fit.

Vive la Femme carries many of the popular retailers such as: Kiyonna, IGIG and Jibri. Their clothing options speak to an older, professional audience. I arrived at the event early in the evening so I was one of the first to arrive.

Overall I was excited to come across another clothing option for the plus community. This is such a cute boutique style store and owner Stephanie also has a shoe store across the street with wider width options called Violette.

Akria Plus Size Fashion Show

Akria opened a new store in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood and threw their 1st plus size fashion Show. I was exited to visit the ultra FAB and Trendy Akria store; and see how they styled their STRAIGHT size only fashions for the curvy figure. NOTE: Akira does not sell plus size clothes and their are no plans in the works. The Store has many Curvy Associates and were representing for the BIG Girls at this event.

My Look for the night was Trendy Causal Chic: Stripped body con Skirt with leggings, basic T, Torrid Boyfriend Blazer and Floral detailed falts and I added a pop of color with over-sized turquoise button earrings

Tried on a one sized Akira top.. it was Cute... but not for me .. though it shows there are some looks for Plus girls

Overall I had a great time, the show did start over an hour late, but big ups to Akria Andersonville for Free Entry, food, wine and Champagne ! HELLO...!! Awesome. I liked a few of the looks but many of the girls had bras cups and straps sticking out and wore shoes they could not walk in. I think Akria Andersonville should give it a try next year and it will be even better.

Alexander McQueen: MET Museum Exhibit

Today while in NYC for Full Figure Fashion Week.... it was only fit that I Visit the Alexander McQueen Exhibit at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
AND IT WAS.....breath taking, Chilling...Gawjus, Amazing....and the MOST CREATIVE thing I've ever seen!

The pictures don't even do it justice....It was the FEEL,  MUSIC,  DESIGN and quotes from Alexander that engulfed me into the mind of McQueen.
The exhibit showcased pieces from 1996 til the time of his death and each are a WONDER!!! I really enjoyed the visual media of his runway shows..... My favorite quotes from McQueen " You have to learn how to construct clothes before you can deconstruct them,”
